How many hours a day do you spend on the Internet? Do you use the Internet every day? Do you feel “out of it” if you can’t use a computer for too long? Chances are you might be addicted to the Internet, and the bad news for you is that if you don’t kick the habit, you might literally lose your mind.
Research shows that Internet addicts have brain areas that can be 10 to 20 percent smaller than those who are not addicted to the World Wide Web.
Areas that are critical to every day interactions like the centers for speech and social interaction, emotion, sensory and motor control, all start to lose their power when you spend too much time staring at a computer screen instead of interacting with real human beings. It turns out that talking to someone over Facebook is a poor substitute for a genuine real life interaction.
