For thousands of years scientists have been working to crack the code of our DNA and see just what makes humans human and what differentiates us from those around us. From the early times of Hippocrates and Aristotle and their postulation of characteristics being handed down from one generation to the next to technological advances of today that help researchers pinpoint chromosomes and explore their functions, the science of genetics has constantly changed and become more accurate. Until as recent as the mid 20th century it still was not exactly understood what DNA was and how the DNA code related to our genes and hereditary traits. Luckily science has allowed researchers to look into the human genome and get answers to questions that have been asked for millennia. Take a look at the following infographic to learn more about the early stages of genetics and how the study has grown over time.
