Sometimes even the brightest student in classroom needs motivation and by adopting quick, small strategies teachers and parents can make a huge difference in motivating. By adopting these strategies, boost up the student involvement with the particular lesson and stop distractions and interference. Each of the ideas given below was developed in order to meet the needs and requirements of students and can produce great results.
The children fulfill the expectations of adults:
This doesn’t mean that every student in a class will get 100% marks in class test or exam. It means that if you want your student succeed in class, never communicate in front of them that he or she is a failure. Always tell them that they will succeed and see the outcome. With each opportunity encourage a student that they can make progress and can improve the areas in which they need improvement. For areas in which student needs improvement, try to portray a successful picture in front of them. Encouraging the students to imagine their success, helps them in achieving the goals and objectives you set for them.
Teach students the different learning styles in the classroom to motivate the students
Make sure you plan your lecture in a way that it must have all the learning styles within it. This is one of the best ways that help you motivate students who are struggling to pay attention in the classroom.
Sometimes motivating the student is as easy as changing your teaching material.
In most schools there is a proper curriculum that every teacher must have to follow in their classroom. If this is the case in your school it doesn’t mean that you cannot bring any additional resources to your class. Bringing different perspective into your class motivate those students who are turned off by the current materials.
Changes of environment also help students motivate
Another most important thing that helps students motivate are the field trips that help them learn in a practical setting. But if the field trips are not possible, take your students outside the class. You can also take your students to the library. You can meet your class goals successfully even if you take your class beyond the walls of the classroom. Encourage your students to do research at the library, let them observe other class, or encourage them to listen to the native speakers in some public area. There are always hundreds of languages to learn, so meet your reading, speaking, and listening goals and objectives outside the incarceration of students’ tables.
Provide your students with accountability
Without the definite idea of a grade or a deadline, a lot of students don’t have a self-motivation that they required to successfully learn the particular language. Always be clear to your students when you are telling them about your expectations. Make sure they must have a deadline for a completion of the project and the standards you require to complete the particular project. You might also consider contracting marks with the students who are at the advanced levels. Avoid giving options for lower grades. Let the student select which grade they want to get in the given project, as it motivates them to complete the requirements satisfactorily. This will motivate them and help them engage in the learning process.
Arrange different competitions
Competition is the best way to motivate your students. There are hundreds of ways to foster a friendly spirit of completion in the classroom. Arrange different extracurricular activities and games within the classroom, divide students into teams and set those teams to a challenge.
Give your students rewards
Tell your students that if they get more than 80% marks in the class project, there will be a pizza party for them or they will get a chance to watch the movie together. These rewards sometimes are enough to motivate a student. Design different rewards by keeping the personalities of the student in mind and discuss with them what your plans are. Even a simple pleasure is a big help in motivating a student.
Finally, tell your students what are the consequences of certain work ethic or behaviour:
Always make your expectations clear to your class and time to time, let them know the consequences of the certain work ethic or behaviour. Of course, no one in the classroom likes to punish, but when positive changes do not work sometimes it is necessary to adopt negative consequences. If you find it necessary, communicate with the parents of the child. Discipline is the last and final resort motivator and must be used at irregular intervals.
