E-Learning has become one of the best tools for those who are unable to attend traditional classes. It is not in any way an easier way to learn, but it does provide a lot of benefits. Not only can e-learning be a more affordable option for many, it also comes with flexibility. Students now have the opportunity to continue with their other responsibilities and come back to learning when time allows.
You might have to work on your personal statement for a research fellowship, but you also have a part-time job. Now, you can go to work and come back to work on your personal statement. This is just one example, but it can apply in a lot of avenues in your life. If you are someone who can do with some flexibility while learning, you should consider e-learning. These brain hacks are going to allow you to learn faster, which frees up even more time.
-
Write it down
Learning from a textbook is just the same as doing it on a screen. Take the time to rewrite some important notes. This is going to help you commit to what you are writing to memory. Most of the rules to learning anything, no matter which method is used, is the same. This works well for e-learning students because you are not normally taking notes as you would have in a traditional classroom.
-
Let go of guilt
If you are trying to learn anything, you cannot do so if your mind is full of other emotions and thoughts. DO not feel guilty if you have taken the freedom of time a little too far. It is so easy to find yourself in a space of guilt with e-learning because you can become a little reluctant to commit. Let go of this as soon as you identify it and continue.
-
Read out loud
Not hearing anyone ever read your text out loud, as in a classroom, can be detrimental to e-learners. You want to take it upon yourself to read your notes out loud. If you are working on your personal statement for fellowship reading it out loud can help you identify problems. Doing the same with your study time is going to help you remember the content better. It is effective in any form of studying.
-
Shorter sessions
Just because you are not in class for a certain amount of time does not mean that you have to exhaust yourself. Learn anything faster by having shorter study sessions. Do some work and then take a short break. This is going to help your brain convert what you have just read to memory. The time you took to take these breaks is not wasted. In fact, it is adding so much more value than sitting with your work for 3 hours straight.
-
Go outside
Take your laptop or your notes and go outside. Being out in the fresh air is not only therapeutic, but it also allows you to relax your mind. This is going to ensure that you change up your space, which is another great brain hack for faster learning. Our brains work in a very complicated way and if we can tap into it, the results are amazing.
-
Pretend to teach
Some of your friends would be eager to learn something now, so you can go ahead and teach them some of your work. If you do not have any friends around, just pretend. Read that personal statement fellowship in the mirror if you have to, but teach someone, even if it’s yourself. The way it works is that you are in return for teaching yourself out loud.
-
Be creative
You do not have to learn with those boring blocks of text if that is not how your brain functions at its best. Use colour coding or fun cards to help you with your learning process. Sitting in front of a computer can be dull on the creative side of your brain. It gives you an opportunity to have some fun with your work and allow your brain to sense the enjoyment. When we have fun, it’s much easier to learn.
