One of our biggest clients in St. Paul, MN is seeking a Surgical Technician to perform the functions of a surgical technologist as a scrub person during surgical procedures providing patient care services appropriate to the age of the patients (ages pediatric through geriatric) served during the shift of duty in collaboration with the RN. The Surg Tech will be responsible for adhering to standards of nursing practice and patient care, correct use of supplies/equipment, and maintenance of the surgical suite under the direction of an RN. Role Expectations: Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures Assuring proper identification and handling of specimens Completing all required sponge, sharps, and instrument counts Following appropriate action in emergency situations Providing patient care Adhering to standards of clinical practice and patient care appropriate to the age of the patients Assisting in transfer/positioning of patients Collaborating with the MD and circulating nurse to provide care for each patient Respecting the confidentiality of all information Correcting use and setup of supplies and equipment Assuring availability and proper functioning of supplies and equipment Assembling and adjusting equipment Cleaning, replenishing, and sterilizing instruments and supplies as needed Participating in the evaluation of new equipment or supplies Assisting other members of the team with terminal cleaning of room in readiness of next p
